Crystal CCH 369 cotton hybrid

Crystal CCH-369 BG-II is a Bollgard-II Bt cotton hybrid marketed by Crystal Crop Protection Limited. It is positioned as a medium-duration hybrid with tall, open and erect plant architecture suited to high-density planting in central and southern Indian cotton tracts.

Cultivation

The hybrid's medium duration and erect canopy allow it to be grown at closer row spacing within the HDPS framework (High Density Planting System Cotton, Cotton Spacing Row Options). A 140-150-day cycle also makes the variety compatible with double-cropping systems (Cotton Double Cropping Systems) where cotton is followed by rabi maize, sorghum or chickpea. Standard package-of-practice nutrition (Cotton First Dose Fertilizer) and early-season weed and crop management (Cotton First 30 Days Management) apply.

Pest profile

The Bollgard-II trait provides protection against the lepidopteran bollworm complex, but does not control Pink Bollworm in regions where field resistance to Cry1Ac and Cry2Ab has developed, nor the sucking-pest complex (Sucking Pest Complex Cotton, Jassid Leafhopper Cotton, Whitefly In Cotton Chilli).

Adoption and use

Crystal CCH-369 is sold through the regional seed trade in the southern peninsular states. Crystal Crop Protection expanded its cotton seed portfolio in 2023 by acquiring the Sadanand brand from Kohinoor Seeds (see Crystal Sadanand).
