Kevat Ultra
Tata Rallis Kevat Ultra is a selective post-emergent cotton herbicide combining pyrithiobac sodium 6% and quizalofop-ethyl 4% as a Micro-Emulsion Concentrate (MEC). Composition and use closely mirror Godrej Agrovet's Hitweed Maxx Cotton.
Composition / Active ingredient
- Composition: Pyrithiobac sodium 6% + Quizalofop-ethyl 4% MEC
- Marketer: Tata Rallis
- Chemical classes: Pyrimidinylthiobenzoate + Aryloxyphenoxy-propionate
Mode of action
Two complementary herbicide modes operate together:
- Pyrithiobac sodium is an acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor — HRAC Group 2 — controlling broadleaf weeds and several grasses.
- Quizalofop-ethyl is an acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) inhibitor — HRAC Group 1 — controlling annual and perennial grasses.
Cotton tolerates both molecules because its enzyme isoforms have low binding affinity for the herbicides.
Target use and dose
Registered for cotton post-emergence at the 2-4 leaf stage of weeds. The MEC formulation gives rainfastness within 2-3 hours. Target weeds span broadleaf (Trianthema, Amaranthus, Digera) and grasses (Echinochloa, Digitaria, Dinebra) for one-pass control in standing cotton.
Safety and regulatory status
Spray drift to broadleaf crops will cause severe injury. ACCase resistance has been documented in Phalaris and Lolium in wheat systems, and ALS resistance in several weed species globally; rotation with Pendimethalin Cotton Preemergent (HRAC 3) and directed Upl Sweep Power Glufosinate (HRAC 10) helps preserve susceptibility.
