Cultivation and adoption
AICRP-Sesame and Niger is coordinated by ICAR-IIOR Hyderabad; popular varieties include TKG-21 (MP), Uma (Odisha), Cums-17, Prachi, Amrit and Nagaland T-1. Most cultivars are photo-/thermo-sensitive, restricting seasonal adaptation; the crop favours 25-35 degC and well-drained loamy soils with sowing in kharif (June-July) and summer (Feb).
