Chrysanthemum (Chamanti)

Chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora Tzvelev, syn. Chrysanthemum morifolium) is a major commercial loose-flower and cut-flower crop of India, with output rising from 470,000 t in 2021-22 to over 650,000 t in 2023-24.

Cultivation and adoption

Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, AP, Maharashtra and Punjab lead production. ICAR-IIHR (Arka series) and TNAU (CO 1, CO 2, MDU 1) have released named cultivars. Sucker propagation occurs in February-March with red loamy, pH 6-7 soil preferred.
