Mayko Bahubali Plus cotton hybrid

Bahubali is a series of Bollgard-II Bt cotton hybrids from Mahyco (Maharashtra Hybrid Seeds Company Limited), one of India's pioneer hybrid seed firms (founded 1964). The series most prominently includes MRC-7361 BG-II, MRC-7918 BG-II and MRC-7376 BG-II. "Mayko" appears in regional farmer usage as a phonetic rendering of "Mahyco".

Cultivation

The Bahubali hybrids are marketed for both rainfed and irrigated cultivation across central and south Indian cotton tracts. The standard CICR package-of-practice — basal NPK plus zinc, split urea, pre- and post-emergence weed control and inter-cultivation — applies (Cotton First Dose Fertilizer, Cotton Weed Management).

Pest profile

The Bollgard-II stack provides control of the lepidopteran bollworm complex (American, spotted bollworm, Spodoptera) but does not control sap-feeders (Jassid Leafhopper Cotton, Whitefly In Cotton Chilli, Sucking Pest Complex Cotton). Manufacturer literature highlights field tolerance of the Bahubali hybrids to sucking pests as a key selling point, plausibly reflecting trichome architecture. Pink Bollworm resistance to the BG-II stack requires the integrated IPM package even where the variety is grown.

Adoption and use

The Bahubali line is one of the more widely sold Mahyco Bt cotton hybrids in southern India. Independent CICR/AICRP yield data is not separately indexed; agronomic claims anchor to the manufacturer's product pages.
