Multi-Nutrient Fertilizer Blends (Gromor F20, Paddy King)
Multi-nutrient fertilizer blends are physically mixed or co-granulated fertilisers that carry primary (NPK), secondary (Ca, Mg, S) and micronutrient (Zn, B, Fe, Mn, Cu) nutrients in a single bag. The category emerged to address the simultaneous depletion of multiple nutrients in intensively cropped soils and to reduce the number of separate fertiliser applications required.
Composition
Indian formulations vary widely by manufacturer and target crop. A representative blend combines a complex NPK base (such as 14-35-14 or 20-20-0-13) with secondary nutrient sources (gypsum, magnesium sulphate) and chelated micronutrient salts (Zn-EDTA, Boron, Fe-EDTA). Some specialty formulations carry leonardite-derived humic substances and seaweed extract alongside the mineral nutrients, presented as multi-component soil-and-foliar inputs.
Notable Indian brands include the Coromandel Gromor range and IFFCO multi-nutrient grades; paddy-specific formulations such as Paddy King carry a particularly broad micronutrient cocktail intended for full-season paddy nutrition.
Mode of action
Once applied, each component releases according to its physical form: granular complex NPK dissolves over several weeks, gypsum and elemental sulphur release over months, and chelated micronutrients dissolve rapidly into the soil solution. The single-bag presentation ensures that micronutrients are distributed at the same density as the NPK, reducing the patchy field response that follows separate broadcast micronutrient application.
Target use and dose
Applied as a basal dose at sowing/transplanting, typically at 50-100 kg per acre for granular blends, or as a top-up during the crop cycle for powder formulations. Specialty paddy multi-nutrient powders are sometimes applied in three splits matched to the basal, tillering and panicle-initiation fertiliser doses.
Subsidy and regulation
Notified under the FCO mixture-fertiliser schedule. Eligibility for nutrient-based subsidy depends on the nutrient grade of the base; many blends carry only the NPK subsidy and not the value of micronutrients, which are passed through at full cost.
