Mahindra MP 3030 / 3030 Plus (hybrid paddy)
MP 3030 is an early-medium duration F1 hybrid paddy marketed by Mahindra Agri Solutions (Mahindra Seeds). It is positioned for both kharif and rabi cultivation in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and adjoining states.
Key characteristics
- Marketer: Mahindra Agri Solutions (Mahindra Seeds)
- Type: F1 hybrid
- Duration: 120-125 days (some product variants quoted as 115-125 days)
- Key traits: high productive tiller number, long panicles with large grain numbers per panicle, comparatively lower water requirement than long-duration varieties
Cultivation
Standard hybrid agronomy applies: nursery raising (Paddy Nursery Management), transplanting (Transplanting Paddy) at 20-25 days, split nitrogen with attention to panicle-initiation and boot stages (Paddy Panicle Stage Fertilization), and use of fresh certified seed each season. The product is positioned as drawing less water than long-duration varieties, with adaptability across irrigated and assured-rainfed systems.
Pest and disease profile
Disease and pest resistance claims (including bacterial leaf blight tolerance) appear in the seed company's marketing material but are not documented on ICAR-IIRR or AICRIP central release dossiers, so deployment in disease-prone tracts should not assume genetic resistance.
Adoption and use
MP 3030 is part of Mahindra Agri's hybrid paddy product line, distributed through Mahindra's seed dealer network. It is one of several private-sector hybrids - alongside Kaveri 468, Pioneer 27P37 25P35, Sava 7501 Savannah and Vnr 1228 2355 - that compete in the bold-grain hybrid segment of the Telugu states. Seed production follows the three-line CMS system described in Hybrid Paddy Seed Production.
