Mulakalacheruvu tomato market (KGN Sri Vinayaka Mandi)

Mulakalacheruvu, in Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh near Madanapalle, hosts a notified APMC sub-yard that, together with the larger Madanapalle main market, forms one of South India's biggest tomato auction hubs. Daily arrivals are tracked through Agmarknet under the Andhra Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board.

Overview

The Mulakalacheruvu yard auctions tomato arriving from cultivators in surrounding mandals; volumes are dispatched to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and other terminal markets. The yard is operated as a sub-market under the APMC (see Apmc Mandi) framework, with auctions conducted by licensed commission agents (see Commission Agent Arthiya).

Eligibility

Cultivators bringing tomato to the yard need no licence; sale is mediated by licensed traders and commission agents. Traders, weighmen and ancillary service providers operate under APMC licences issued by the state marketing board.

The state marketing board notifies auction timings, market fees and licence conditions.
