Sava 7501 (Savannah Seeds coarse paddy)

Sava 7501 is a hybrid rice in Savannah Seeds India's SmartRice line. Savannah Seeds is an affiliate of RiceTec, and the variety is notified by the Government of India as a hybrid rice.

Key characteristics

  • Marketer: Savannah Seeds India (RiceTec affiliate)
  • Type: F1 hybrid rice
  • Duration: ~130 days
  • Grain: coarse (bold)
  • Notification: Government of India notified hybrid
  • Milling outturn: ~72.5% (PAU 2022 trial)
  • Head-rice recovery: ~63.5% (PAU 2022 trial)

Cultivation

The variety is suited to both transplanted (Transplanting Paddy) and direct-seeded (Direct Seeded Rice Broadcast, Dry Direct Seeded Rice) establishment. Standard hybrid agronomy applies: fresh certified seed each season, split nitrogen, careful boot-stage management, and labelled seed treatment. PAU's kharif 2022 trial reported about 13.73% higher yield than local checks.

Pest and disease profile

Field reports cited in the bundle describe tolerance to rice blast, brown planthopper and stem borer under minimal-spray conditions; as with other private hybrids, claims rest on the seed-company's trial network rather than ICAR central release dossiers.

Adoption and use

The variety is sold through Savannah's dealer network across the Indian rice belt, including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. Milling outturn and head-rice recovery both exceed FCI procurement standards in published PAU trials. Punjab placed restrictions on certain hybrid paddies for kharif 2025 over milling-efficiency concerns, putting hybrid-rice marketing claims under additional scrutiny. Sava 7501 competes in the same private-sector hybrid segment as Kaveri 468, Mahindra Mp 3030 Plus, Pioneer 27P37 25P35 and Vnr 1228 2355; seed production follows the standard three-line CMS protocol described in Hybrid Paddy Seed Production.
