Green gram (Vigna radiata)
Green gram or moong (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) is a short-duration kharif/summer pulse cultivated on ~3.19 million ha in India (~10% of pulse area) with 1.51 mt production. ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur coordinates AICRP on Mungbean and has released the early-maturing variety Virat (55-day duration, fits rice-wheat system).
