Amistar Top (Azoxystrobin + Difenoconazole)
Amistar Top is a Syngenta systemic fungicide pre-mix of azoxystrobin 18.2% and difenoconazole 11.4% formulated as SC. It is CIBRC-labelled for chilli, tomato, paddy and maize against a broad spectrum of foliar and fruit diseases.
Composition / Active ingredient
- Composition: Azoxystrobin 18.2% + Difenoconazole 11.4% SC
- Chemical classes: Strobilurin (methoxyacrylate QoI) + Triazole (DMI)
Mode of action
The mixture combines two unrelated systemic modes:
- Azoxystrobin inhibits mitochondrial respiration at the cytochrome bc1 complex (Qo site), blocking ATP production. It is highly active against spore germination. FRAC group 11 (QoI).
- Difenoconazole inhibits C14-α-demethylase (CYP51), disrupting ergosterol biosynthesis and fungal membrane integrity. FRAC group 3 (DMI).
Together, the two provide protective, curative and translaminar action.
Target use and dose
Amistar Top controls anthracnose, fruit rot, leaf spot, rust and powdery mildew in chilli; early blight on tomato; blast and sheath blight on paddy; and Cercospora/turcicum leaf spots on maize. The standard dose is 200 ml/acre in 200 L water, applied as a preventive or early-curative spray.
Safety and regulatory status
Strobilurin resistance has been documented globally in several pathogens; rotation with non-QoI fungicides such as Mancozeb Carbendazim Saaf or Zineb Hexaconazole Avtar is recommended. Standard pre-harvest intervals on label must be observed, particularly on chilli for export.
