Barhi date palm

Barhi (Phoenix dactylifera cv. Barhi) is an Iraqi-origin medium-to-late season date palm cultivar evaluated and recommended by ICAR-Central Institute for Arid Horticulture, Bikaner along with Halawy and Medjool as suitable for India's hot arid regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Adoption and use

Average yield is around 200 kg per palm. The variety is heat- and sun-tolerant up to 56 degC and is widely propagated through tissue culture for clonal fidelity.
