Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea)

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is India's most important rabi/summer oilseed legume, with ICAR-Directorate of Groundnut Research, Junagadh as the mandate institute. India is the world's second largest producer.

Released varieties include high-oleic Girnar 4, Girnar 5, GG 40, GG 39 (DGR/JAU); Spanish bunch GG 7, GG 5, AK 159, HNG 10 and Virginia bunch Raj Mungfali-3. Major growing zones are Gujarat, Rajasthan, AP, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
