Oats (Avena sativa) as a Niche Crop in Telugu States
Oats (Avena sativa L.) is primarily a fodder crop in India covering ~0.25 million ha, concentrated in UP (34%), Punjab (20%), Bihar (16%), Haryana (9%) and MP (6%). AICRP-Forage Crops has released several varieties for southern Indian agro-climates including JHO-2010-1, JHO 2000-4, RO-11-1, OL-1861, JHO-2012-2, OL-1760 and OL-403 specifically for AP, Telangana and Karnataka.
