NPK 10-26-26 complex fertilizer for cotton

10-26-26 is a granular NPK complex carrying 10% nitrogen, 26% P2O5 and 26% K2O. It is one of the high-K complex grades favoured as a basal in cotton, sugarcane and horticultural crops, where strong potash supply supports side-branch development, fruit-bearing positions and fibre or fruit quality. It is notified under the FCO complex-fertiliser schedule and produced by all major Indian fertiliser companies.

Mode of action

The ammoniacal nitrogen and the relatively low N share favour root-and-branch establishment rather than excessive vegetative push. The high P fraction supports root growth and early floral initiation, and the high K fraction supports cell-wall strength, water-use efficiency, fibre quality in cotton and fruit firmness in horticulture. The KCl-derived K means the product carries chloride, which is unsuitable for chloride-sensitive crops such as tobacco and certain grape varieties.

Target use and dose

Cotton: applied as the principal basal at sowing, typically at 50-100 kg per acre depending on soil P-K status and rainfall regime.
Sugarcane: basal at planting, alongside FYM, with the rate set to match crop K demand.
Horticulture: basal at planting or first major dose for high-K crops.

The grade is interchangeable in many situations with Complex Npk Grades 14-35-14 (when more P is needed) and Complex 20 20 0 13 (when sulphur is needed instead of K).

Subsidy and regulation

Notified under the FCO complex-fertiliser schedule; subsidy is paid under the Nutrient-Based Subsidy regime, with per-tonne nutrient subsidy revised twice a year.
