Kaveri 468 (hybrid paddy)

Kaveri 468 (also catalogued as KPH 468) is a bold-grain F1 hybrid paddy marketed by Kaveri Seeds for kharif and rabi cultivation across southern and eastern India.

Key characteristics

  • Marketer: Kaveri Seeds Ltd.
  • Type: F1 hybrid paddy
  • Duration: 115-120 days
  • Plant height: 105-110 cm
  • Grain: bold
  • Seed rate: 6 kg/acre, sowing depth below 1 cm

Cultivation

Standard hybrid agronomy applies: pre-germinated nursery, Transplanting Paddy at 20-25 days, careful nitrogen splitting with attention to the boot- and panicle-initiation stages (Paddy Panicle Stage Fertilization, Paddy Panicle Stage Management), and seed treatment as recommended on the product label. Like all single-cross hybrids, saved seed segregates and is unsuitable for reuse; fresh certified seed is required each season.

Pest and disease profile

Catalogue and trade material list field tolerance to rice blast (Paddy Blast Disease) and brown planthopper (Brown Planthopper Paddy). As with most private-sector hybrids, these claims are based on the seed company's evaluation rather than on an ICAR-IIRR or AICRIP central release dossier.

Adoption and use

Kaveri 468 is widely promoted in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and adjoining states for both seasons and is sold through the standard private-sector hybrid distribution channel. Seed production follows the three-line CMS protocol shared across Indian hybrid rice (Hybrid Paddy Seed Production).
