JGL 28545

JGL 28545 is a fine-grain paddy line developed at the Polasa Rice Research Station, Jagtial, under Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU). It has been distributed as a rice minikit alongside Knm 1638 and RNR 29325 in Telangana districts such as Mancherial.

Key characteristics

Cultivation

Promoted for kharif transplanting in Telangana's paddy command areas. The line was evaluated in screening trials at RARS Jagtial during kharif 2020 against gall midge and brown spot (Brown Spot Paddy), and is documented in PJTSAU field-day reports as a minikit variety alongside other promising Jagtial and Kunaram lines.

Pest and disease profile

Field reports describe tolerance to brown planthopper and gall midge. As a recent and limited-release line, formal central release notification was not on file at the time the bundle was compiled, so disease-resistance claims rest on PJTSAU screening data rather than AICRIP national release dossiers.

Adoption and use

JGL 28545 is at the minikit and on-farm demonstration stage of adoption in Telangana, distributed primarily through PJTSAU's Krishi Vigyan Kendras and rural extension channels.
