Salaar tomato

Salaar (TO-3119) is an F1 hybrid tomato (Tomato Crop) bred by Nongwoo Seed India, the Indian subsidiary of South Korea's Nongwoo Bio. It is marketed for commercial open-field cultivation across the Indian tomato belt, with seedling supply concentrated through Bengaluru nurseries.

Cultivation

The hybrid is raised through commercial nursery seedlings and transplanted using the standard staked open-field package described in Tomato Crop. As a private-sector hybrid Salaar lacks a public ICAR characterisation sheet; published trait information comes from the breeder and retail listings. Firmness and deep-red colour are positioned for fresh-market and long-distance transport.

Pest and disease profile

Salaar is exposed to the typical Indian tomato pest and disease complex including whitefly-borne leaf curl (Tomato Leaf Curl Virus) and the blight complex (Tomato Early Late Blight). Growers manage these through standard IPM with whitefly vector control and prophylactic fungicide rotations.

Adoption and use

Salaar is distributed through mainstream Indian agri-input channels including DesiKheti, IndiaMart and Amazon India, and is sold alongside other Nongwoo vegetable hybrids.
