Mustard (Brassica juncea)

Indian mustard (Brassica juncea (L.) Czern. & Coss.) is India's leading rabi oilseed accounting for ~80% of the rapeseed-mustard area. ICAR-Directorate of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Bharatpur (Rajasthan) is the mandate institute and, with ICAR-NBPGR, conserves ~5950 mustard accessions.

Cultivation and adoption

Key DRMR-bred varieties include thermo-tolerant lines DRMR-2018-25/37/41 and white-rust-resistant DRMR-2035. Major producers: Rajasthan, MP, Haryana, UP and Gujarat; ICAR-IARI varieties Pusa Bold, Pusa Mahak and Pusa Vijay are widely grown.
