Pravardhan Revanth cotton hybrid

Revanth is a Bollgard-II Bt cotton hybrid from Pravardhan Seeds Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, sold in the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh cotton tracts and adjacent southern states.

Key characteristics

  • Manufacturer: Pravardhan Seeds Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad.
  • Trait: Bollgard-II (Bt Cotton Bg Ii), Cry1Ac and Cry2Ab stack.
  • Recommended states: Telangana, Andhra Pradesh.
  • Plant traits: big bolls with good retention and easy bursting for picking.
  • Packet size: 475-500 g per commercial pack.

Cultivation

Revanth follows the package-of-practice for medium-duration Bt cotton hybrids in southern India: basal NPK and zinc at sowing (Cotton First Dose Fertilizer), pre- plus post-emergence weed control (Cotton Weed Management) and the routine early-season schedule (Cotton First 30 Days Management).

Pest profile

The Bollgard-II stack controls the lepidopteran bollworm complex but does not control Pink Bollworm populations resistant to Cry1Ac and Cry2Ab, nor the sucking-pest complex (Sucking Pest Complex Cotton, Jassid Leafhopper Cotton, Whitefly In Cotton Chilli). Supplementary IPM is required in pink-bollworm-prone tracts.

Adoption and use

Pravardhan is a Hyderabad-based regional seed company; Revanth is distributed through dealer networks across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Independent CICR/AICRP trial data for the hybrid is not publicly indexed; the agronomic and yield claims anchor to manufacturer and seed-portal copy.
