Kaveri Shourya okra
Shourya is an F1 hybrid okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) marketed by Kaveri Seeds, a Hyderabad-headquartered Indian seed company with a substantial vegetable portfolio. It is sold for commercial open-field cultivation across the warm-season okra growing belt of south and central India, and is distributed through agri-input retail and major agri-e-commerce platforms.
Key characteristics
- Breeder/marketer: Kaveri Seeds
- Type: F1 hybrid okra
- Position in portfolio: marketed alongside other Kaveri okra hybrids including KOKH 1108 and Shubhanka
Cultivation
Shourya is grown as a direct-sown summer or kharif crop using standard okra agronomy described in Okra Crop. Like other commercial okra hybrids it requires a balanced NPK programme, drip irrigation where feasible, and a regular every-2-3-day harvest schedule once pods reach marketable size.
Pest and disease profile
The hybrid is exposed to the standard okra pest complex - whitefly-borne Yellow Vein Mosaic Disease (Okra Yvmv), jassids, mites and shoot/fruit borer. As with all commercial okra production, an IPM programme combining tolerant genetics, sanitation and need-based insecticide rotation is required.
Adoption and use
The hybrid is distributed primarily through agri-input dealers and online agri-retail channels including DesiKheti and Puregene Agritech.
