Byadgi-segment chilli (Kaddi)
బ్యాడ్గి-segment మిర్చి (కడ్డి)
Byadgi (లేదా Byadagi) అన్నది ఉత్తర కర్ణాటకలో పండే ముదురు ఎరుపు, wrinkled, తక్కువ ఘాటు ఉన్న మిర్చి segment. ముఖ్యంగా హావేరి, ధార్వాడ్, గదగ్, బళ్లారి జిల్లాల్లో పండిస్తారు. ఫిబ్రవరి 2011 లో Geographical Indication registration (GI No. 129) పొందింది. చిల్లీ oleoresin, natural-red-colour తయారీకి భారతదేశంలో ప్రధాన ముడిసరుకు ఇదే.

University of Agricultural Sciences, ధార్వాడ్ Byadgi material కు breeding hub. ట్రయల్స్ లో ధార్వాడ్ లో పండించిన పంటకు అత్యధిక దిగుబడి, రంగు వచ్చింది. ఈ segment ను ముఖ్యంగా ఉత్తర కర్ణాటక black-cotton-soil ప్రాంతాల్లో రబీ లో పండిస్తారు. Routine operations లో చిల్లీ package of practices పాటిస్తారు (Practice Chilli Nursery Raising, Practice Chilli Fertilizer Schedule).
పురుగు, తెగుళ్ళు
ఇతర భారతీయ మిర్చి లాగే Byadgi పంటలు కూడా ఇవే biotic stresses కు గురవుతాయి: త్రిప్స్ (Pest Thrips Parvispinus Black Thrips), yellow mite (Pest Mites Chilli), leaf curl virus (Disease Chilli Leaf Curl Virus), fruit anthracnose (Disease Chilli Dieback Anthracnose).
వాడకం
అత్యుత్తమ రంగు విలువ, చాలా తక్కువ ఘాటు వల్ల Byadgi ఆహారం, cosmetics, ఔషధ పరిశ్రమల్లో వాడే natural red oleoresin కు భారతదేశంలో ప్రధాన మూలం. ఈ segment ను target చేసే ప్రైవేటు హైబ్రిడ్లు — Syngenta HPH 2043 (Chilli Syngenta Hph 2043), HPH 5531 (Chilli Syngenta Hph 5531). Wrinkled dry pods ను grade చేసి standard tarpaulin-yard protocol (Practice Chilli Picking Drying) ప్రకారం ఎండబెడతారు.
