Thrips parvispinus (Karny) అన్నది ఒక invasive thripid. భారతదేశంలో మొదట 2015 లో బెంగళూరులో బొప్పాయి మీద గుర్తించారు. రబీ 2021-22 లో మిర్చిలో పేలింది, భారత మిర్చి బెల్ట్ లో అతిపెద్ద thrips outbreak గా మారింది. 2021 లో ICAR-NBAIR అధికారిక pest alert జారీ చేసింది. ICAR-IIHR బెంగళూరు inter-institutional surveys, bio-intensive management modules లీడ్ చేస్తుంది.

గుర్తింపు, లక్షణాలు

పెద్ద T. parvispinus చిన్నగా, ముదురు రంగు శరీరంతో, ఛాతీపై తెల్లని pale-band తో గుర్తుండిపోతుంది. మిర్చిలో ఇది తీవ్రమైన పూత రాలడం, ఆకులు పైకి ముడుచుకోవడం (upward leaf curl), కాయపై గోధుమ రంగు scars కలిగిస్తుంది. Outbreak peak లో సర్వేలు 90-95% పూత damage నమోదు చేశాయి.

హోస్ట్ పంటలు, జీవిత చక్రం

ఈ జాతి Thysanoptera క్రమం, Thripidae family కి చెందుతుంది. ఆగ్నేయాసియా native. భారతదేశంలో విస్తృత host range ఉంది. ఇప్పుడు మిర్చి అత్యధికంగా ఆర్థికంగా ప్రభావితమైన పంట. మొదటి భారతీయ host record — Carica papaya, బెంగళూరు, 2015. మొదటి మిర్చి outbreak — రబీ 2021-22, ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్, తెలంగాణ, కర్ణాటకలో. ప్రభావితమైన ప్రధాన మిర్చి రకాలు — గుంటూరు సన్నం (Chilli Guntur Sannam), తేజా segment (Chilli Teja Segment), బ్యాడ్గి types (Chilli Byadgi Segment).

నష్టం, ఆర్థిక ప్రభావం

రబీ 2021-22 outbreak 0.4 million hectares కు మించి మిర్చిని దెబ్బ తీసింది. తీవ్ర feeding పూత, మొగ్గ రాలడం (Disorder Chilli Flower Bud Drop), నేరుగా దిగుబడి కూలిపోవడం కలిగిస్తుంది.

నియంత్రణ (cultural, biological, chemical)

ICAR-NBAIR, ICAR-IIHR అధికారిక monitoring, bio-intensive management modules జారీ చేశాయి. Package లో —

  • Cultural — insect-proof నర్సరీ netting (Practice Chilli Nursery Raising), reflective mulches, ప్రత్యామ్నాయ hosts ను తొలగించడం
  • Monitoring — blue / yellow sticky traps, flower-tap sampling
  • Chemical rotation — Standard IPM స్ప్రే calendar (Practice Chilli Spray Schedule) లో చేర్చారు. ప్రస్తుత molecules — spinetoram, fipronil, cyantraniliprole — resistance రాకుండా alternate గా వాడతారు
  • Biocontrol — predatory mites విడుదల, native generalist predators ను కాపాడడం
