Bargur — తమిళనాడు hill draught జాతి

Bargur — పశ్చిమ తమిళనాడులోని compact hill draught జాతి; ఎరోడ్ జిల్లాలోని Bargur hills నుండి పేరు. ICAR-NBAGR లో నమోదు అయింది. Mysore-type group (Hallikar, Amrit Mahal, Kangayam) కి closely-related; కానీ forest hill terrain కి సరిపోయే చిన్న, sure-footed body గా పరిణామం చెందింది. సాంప్రదాయంగా Lingayat community semi-nomadic herds గా పెంచుతుంది. Rashtriya Gokul Mission కింద in-situ conservation కి priority breed.

మూలం, విస్తరణ

హోమ్ tract — ఎరోడ్ జిల్లాలోని Bargur, Anthiyur, Thalavadi, Sathyamangalam hills; కర్ణాటక లోకి, lower Nilgiris లోకి విస్తరించింది. Herds Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, చుట్టుపక్కల reserve forests యొక్క forested slopes లో traditional grazing rights తో grazing. Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), state Animal Husbandry department conservation breeding work చేస్తున్నాయి.

స్వరూపం

Compact, మధ్యమ సైజు పశువులు; brown coat పై characteristic తెలుపు మచ్చలు — pure brown, pure తెలుపు పశువులు కూడా ఉంటాయి. Narrow, కొంచెం ఉబ్బిన నుదురు; మధ్యమ, తేలికపాటి కొమ్ములు బయటకు, పైకి sharp కొనలతో. చిన్న, horizontal చెవులు; ఎద్దుల్లో మోస్తరు మూపురం; light dewlap. ఆవు 240–290 kg, ఎద్దు 320–380 kg. పొట్టి, బలమైన కాళ్ళు, రాతి terrain లో wear ని తట్టుకునే hard hooves.

దిగుబడి

Bargur ప్రధానంగా draught breed. ఆవులు modest milkers — 240–270-day lactation లో 400–600 kg; ఫాట్ 4.5–5.0%. ప్రధాన విలువ ఎద్దుల్లో — fast, sturdy, sure-footed animals; రాతి uplands దుక్కికి, forest produce ని transport చేయడానికి, hill cart-tracks లో trotting కి సరిపోతాయి. Bargur ఎద్దులు 600–900 kg load లాగుతాయి; rough terrain లో endurance కి valuable. Tick-resistant; foot-and-mouth disease (Fmd Cattle) ని field లో tolerate చేస్తాయి.

నియంత్రణ

దాదాపు పూర్తిగా forested grazing పైనే Bargur survive అవుతుంది — గడ్డి, ఆకులు, shrubs browsing. వేసవి scarcity లో జొన్న kadbi, కంది stalks, చిన్న concentrate ration అదనంగా. Simple loose paddocks లేదా stone-walled night pens లో housing. Migratory herds లో natural service ద్వారా breeding; TANUVAS genetic purity కోసం ఎంపిక చేసిన bulls తో artificial insemination (Artificial Insemination Cattle) కూడా చేస్తుంది. Population తగ్గుతోంది; on-farm conservation incentives విస్తరిస్తున్నాయి.
