Yellow mite and red mite in chilli
మిర్చిలో yellow mite, red mite (పేనుబంక/నల్లి)
భారతీయ మిర్చి పంటలో రెండు acarine pests ముఖ్యం — broad / yellow mite Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Acari: Tarsonemidae), స్థానికంగా ముర్నాయ్, ముర్దా లేదా నల్లి అని పిలుస్తారు; two-spotted red spider mite Tetranychus urticae. దక్షిణ భారత మిర్చి బెల్ట్లో ఆర్థికంగా ఎక్కువ నష్టం broad mite నుండి వస్తుంది.
గుర్తింపు, లక్షణాలు
P. latus వల్ల ఆకు పడవ (boat) లాగా కిందికి వంగుతుంది, petiole పొడవవుతుంది ('rat-tail' లక్షణం), ఆకు bronzing (కంచు రంగు), కాయపై scars వస్తాయి. ఈ ఆకు కిందికి వంగడం (downward leaf curl) ప్రధాన field marker — leaf curl virus (Disease Chilli Leaf Curl Virus), Thrips parvispinus (Pest Thrips Parvispinus Black Thrips) వల్ల వచ్చే upward leaf curl నుండి దీన్ని వేరు చేయడానికి ఉపయోగపడుతుంది.
హోస్ట్ పంటలు, జీవిత చక్రం
ప్రధాన జాతి Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks), family Tarsonemidae. Tetranychus urticae (Tetranychidae) చాలా పొలాల్లో కలిసి కనిపిస్తుంది (Red Spider Mite In Chilli). Mites చాలా polyphagous, వెచ్చని పొడి పరిస్థితుల్లో వేగంగా పెరుగుతాయి. ఒక్క పంట చక్రంలోనే అనేక తరాలు పూర్తి చేస్తాయి.
నష్టం, ఆర్థిక ప్రభావం
తీవ్ర mite infestation వల్ల defoliation, కాయ scarring, పెద్ద దిగుబడి నష్టం వస్తుంది. అన్ని ముఖ్య భారతీయ మిర్చి రకాల్లో (Chilli Guntur Sannam, Chilli Teja Segment, Chilli Byadgi Segment) విస్తృతం.
నియంత్రణ (cultural, biological, chemical)
- Acaricide chemistry (TNAU) — fenazaquin 10 EC 2 ml/L, abamectin (Vertimec) 1.9 EC 0.2 ml/L లేదా wettable sulphur 3 g/L
- Best-performing trial chemistry — ICAR-IIVR వారణాసి trials (2011-14) లో chlorfenapyr 1.5 ml/L అత్యధికంగా (~70% mite తగ్గుదల) ప్రభావవంతం. తర్వాత spiromesifen, fipronil
- Biocontrol — Amblyseius genus కు చెందిన predatory mites (ఉదా: Amblyseius ovalis)
- Calendar fit — IPM schedule (Practice Chilli Spray Schedule) మధ్యదశలో mite-active స్ప్రేలు పెడతారు
