Oriental fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis సహా ఇతర Bactrocera జాతులు భారతదేశంలో మామిడి, ఇతర పండు పంటలకు అత్యంత నష్టం చేసే direct పురుగులు. వీటి larvae పండు లోపలే పెరుగుతాయి; దాంతో కోసిన పండు మార్కెట్కు పనికిరాదు. దిగుమతి చేసుకునే దేశాల quarantine నిబంధనల ప్రకారం కన్సైన్మెంట్లను తిరస్కరిస్తారు. Methyl eugenol traps తో male annihilation చుట్టూ అల్లిన integrated management protocols ను ICAR-IIHR, ICRISAT రూపొందించాయి.
గుర్తింపు, లక్షణాలు
పెద్ద పురుగు 6-8 mm పొడవు, brown body, costal stripe తో clear wings ఉంటాయి. ఆడ పురుగు పండు ముదిరే సమయంలో పండు చర్మం కింద గుడ్లు పెడుతుంది. ఆ pinhole oviposition పంక్చర్ల నుండి తరచూ ఒక sticky droplet బయటకు వస్తుంది. Maggots గుజ్జులో రంధ్రాలు చేస్తాయి; పండు ముందుగానే రాలిపోవడం, brown discolouration, secondary rot ఏర్పడతాయి. భారతదేశంలో ముఖ్య జాతులు B. dorsalis, B. zonata, B. correcta.
హోస్ట్ పంటలు, జీవిత చక్రం
ఈ పురుగు చాలా రకాల పంటల మీద దాడి చేస్తుంది - మామిడి (Mango Alphonso, Mango Banganapalli Beneshan, Mango Kesar, Mango Dasheri, Mango Himayat Himam Pasand, Mango Totapuri), జామ, సపోటా, రేగు, citrus, చాలా కూరగాయలు. Canopy కింద నేలలో pupation జరుగుతుంది. వెచ్చని ప్రాంతాల్లో ఏడాదికి అనేక overlapping generations వస్తాయి; మామిడి ముదిరే సమయంలోనే peak activity ఉంటుంది.
నష్టం, ఆర్థిక ప్రభావం
Bactrocera dorsalis ఒక్క దాని వల్లే మామిడి దిగుబడి 10-40% నష్టపోతున్నట్లు ICAR-IIHR తెలిపింది. వరుస flushes లో populations పెరిగితే నష్టం ఇంకా ఎక్కువ. భారత మామిడి ఎగుమతులకు ఇది ప్రధాన non-tariff trade barrier.
నియంత్రణ
ICAR-IIHR, ICRISAT రూపొందించిన IPM ప్యాకేజీలో:
- మానిటరింగ్, male annihilation: హెక్టారుకు 20-25 methyl-eugenol-baited traps (ఎకరానికి దాదాపు 6), fruit set సమయంలో అమర్చి, ఎప్పటికప్పుడు refresh చేయాలి; నిరంతరం deploy చేస్తే population లో 90-95% తగ్గుదల కనిపించింది.
- సానిటేషన్: రాలిన, infested పండ్లను రోజూ సేకరించి deep burial లేదా solarisation చేస్తే జీవిత చక్రం తెగుతుంది.
- Bait స్ప్రేలు: 10% బెల్లం + approved insecticide ను canopy కింది భాగంలో spot గా స్ప్రే చేస్తే ఆహారం తీసుకుంటున్న పెద్ద పురుగులు చనిపోతాయి.
- సాగు పద్ధతులు: సరైన ముదురుతనం వచ్చినప్పుడే ముందుగా కోత; canopy management (Mango Canopy Training Pruning), flowering management (Mango Flowering Management) తో కలిపి synchronised cropping.
