పారాక్వాట్, గ్లుఫోసినేట్ అమ్మోనియం (non-selective contact herbicides)
Paraquat dichloride 24% SL, glufosinate ammonium 13.5% SL — ఇవి భారత్లో పత్తి, తోటలు, ప్లాంటేషన్ పంటల్లో బండ్లు, వరుసల మధ్య కలుపును knockdown చేయడానికి వాడే రెండు ముఖ్యమైన non-selective contact post-emergence herbicides. రెండూ foliar contactగా మాత్రమే పనిచేస్తాయి — systemicగా కదలవు; అందుకే in-crop directed వాడకానికి systemic Glyphosate Orchard Warning కంటే safe.

పనిచేసే విధానం
రెండు మాలిక్యూల్స్ వేర్వేరు మెకానిజమ్స్లో పనిచేస్తాయి, కానీ రెండూ వేగంగానే చంపుతాయి:
- Paraquat అనేది bipyridylium; Photosystem I నుంచి electronsని divert చేస్తుంది, superoxide, hydrogen peroxide free radicals తయారవుతాయి, అవి కొద్ది గంటల్లోనే cell membranesని నాశనం చేస్తాయి. HRAC Group 22.
- Glufosinate glutamine synthetase ని inhibit చేస్తుంది — ఇది మొక్కల్లో ammoniaని detoxify చేసే ఒకే ఒక్క ఎంజైమ్. Ammonia పేరుకుపోతుంది, photosynthesis ఆగిపోతుంది, 3-7 రోజుల్లో foliage ఎండిపోతుంది. HRAC Group 10.
రెండు మాలిక్యూల్స్ contact-only; spray కొట్టిన ఆకుకు మించి translocate అవ్వవు.
ఉపయోగం, డోసు
భారత్లో ముఖ్యంగా పత్తి, తోటల బండ్ల మీద knockdown కోసం వాడతారు. Paraquat 800-1200 ml/acre directed spray (hoodతో) గా spray చేస్తారు; glufosinate (Sweep Power) 1.32 L/acre (foam-based applicలో ~250 ml/acre; చూడండి Upl Sweep Power Glufosinate). రెండింటినీ hood లేదా foam applicatorతో పంట canopy నుంచి shield చేయాలి.
భద్రత, రెగ్యులేటరీ
PAN International Paraquatని highly hazardousగా classify చేసింది; కేరళలో restricted (చాలా దేశాల్లో నిషేధం); CIBRC ప్రస్తుతం తొమ్మిది పంటల్లో strict label requirementsతో registration ఉంచింది. Paraquat poisoningకి antidote లేదు. Operatorsకి Glufosinate comparatively safer, కానీ EUలో regulatory reviewలో ఉంది. రెండూ non-target మొక్కలకి టాక్సిక్; drift జరగకుండా చూసుకోవాలి.
