Co 15023 — ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute Coimbatore నుండి 2020 లో subtropical zone కి విడుదలైంది. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand లోని red-rot-affected blocks లో Co 0238 కి front-line replacement గా వచ్చింది. Drought tolerance, moderate red-rot resistance, 11.5-12.5% చక్కెర recovery — Co 0238 గుణాలను నిలుపుతూ 2017 నుండి అది కోల్పోయిన disease resilience ను తిరిగి తీసుకువచ్చింది.

Subtropical zone — UP (central, eastern), Bihar, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan — లో notify చేశారు. Co 0238 break-down అయిన red-rot-hotspot blocks కు, canal tail-end నీటి-కొరత గ్రామాలకు ICAR-IISR Lucknow ప్రత్యేకంగా సిఫార్సు చేస్తుంది. Planting: autumn (అక్టోబర్-నవంబర్) లేదా spring (ఫిబ్రవరి-మార్చి), 75-90 cm row spacing, 3-bud setts. Standard subtropical fertiliser schedule: 150:60:60 kg NPK per hectare — 25% N basal, మిగతా రెండు splits లో.
పురుగు, తెగుళ్ళు
Co 15023 యొక్క ప్రధాన selling point — Colletotrichum falcatum వల్ల వచ్చే ఎర్ర కుళ్ళు తెగులు (red rot) కు moderate resistance, Co 0238 ను overcome చేసిన CF08 (Pathotype 14) lineage తో సహా. AICRP-Sugarcane multi-location screening eastern UP isolates కి MR (moderately resistant) గా rate చేసింది. Smut కి field-tolerant; top borer, pyrilla కి MS (moderately susceptible). Moderately resistant రకాలు కూడా healthy heat-treated seed తో వేయాలని, red-rot-affected blocks లో ప్రతి 3-4 ఏళ్లకు రకం rotate చేయాలని ICAR-IISR నిర్దేశిస్తుంది.
వాడకం
2020 లో మాత్రమే విడుదల అయినందున Co 15023 early expansion phase లో ఉంది. UP cane departments, mill development cells దశలవారీగా seed multiplication promote చేస్తున్నాయి: 2021-22 breeder seed, 2022-23 registered nurseries లో foundation seed, 2024-25 నుండి red-rot-replacement blocks లో commercial planting. Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Gorakhpur, Saharanpur జిల్లాల mills nucleus seed plots ప్రారంభించాయి. Post-Co 0238 transition కు Co 0118, Co 98014 తో పాటు ఇది ఒక key replacement option.
