మూలం, విస్తరణ

హోమ్ tract — కేరళ లోని కాసరగోడ్ జిల్లా, పక్క కన్నూర్ జిల్లా; కర్ణాటకలోని దక్షిణ కన్నడ, ఉడుపి జిల్లాల్లోకి విస్తరించింది. Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) Centre for Advanced Studies in Animal Genetics and Breeding (Mannuthy) conservation breeding చేస్తోంది. Smallholder herds lateritic coastal belt లోని homestead, forest edges లో graze అవుతాయి.

స్వరూపం

చిన్న, compact పశువులు; ఆవులు 90–105 cm ఎత్తు, 130–170 kg; ఎద్దులు 110–125 cm, 180–230 kg. Coat — నలుపు, fawn, ఎరుపు, తెలుపు లేదా piebald variable; నలుపు, fawn ఎక్కువగా. చిన్న, కొంచెం ఉబ్బిన నుదురు; పొట్టి, సన్నని కొమ్ములు బయటకు, పైకి; చిన్న, కొంచెం వేలాడే చెవులు. ఎద్దుల్లో చిన్న మూపురం, light dewlap. పొట్టి కాళ్ళు, tucked-up body — sized కి తగినట్లుగా well-muscled.

దిగుబడి

రోజువారీ సగటు 1.0–2.5 లీటర్లు; elite ఆవులు 3.0–3.5 లీటర్లు; 230–260-day lactation లో 250–500 kg. ఫాట్ exceptionally high — 5.5–6.5%; true A2 పాలు — fat-and-SNF premium (Milk Fat Snf Pricing) లో strong, coastal కర్ణాటక, కేరళలో దేశీ-cow A2 milk direct-to-consumer market (Desi Cow Natural Farming) పెరుగుతోంది. Maintenance చాలా తక్కువ — 150 kg ఆవు, 300 kg ఆవు తినే dán మోతాదులో సగమే తింటుంది; smallholding లో feed-efficient.

నియంత్రణ

Cut-and-carry tropical మేత — guinea గడ్డి, పనస చెట్ల ఆకులు, అరటి కట్టె, కొబ్బరి piṇḍi — + రోజుకి 0.5–1.0 kg balanced concentrate. Ticks, mastitis (Mastitis Dairy), foot-and-mouth disease (Fmd Cattle) ని strong గా tolerate చేస్తుంది; heat stress అరుదు.
