Mealybug in orchard fruit crops
తోటల పండ్ల పంటల్లో mealybug
Mealybugs తెల్లని పిండి-mealy wax తో కప్పబడిన sap-sucking scale insects. భారత తోటల పండ్ల పంటలకు చాలా జాతులు నష్టం చేస్తాయి - ముఖ్యంగా Maconellicoccus hirsutus (pink hibiscus mealybug), Planococcus citri (citrus mealybug). హార్టికల్చర్లో ఈ పురుగుల biological control పరిశోధనను ICAR-NBAIR, ICAR-NCIPM coordinate చేస్తాయి.
గుర్తింపు, లక్షణాలు
ఆడ పెద్ద పురుగు 2-4 mm పొడవు, oval, soft-bodied; తెల్ల waxy పదార్థంతో కప్పబడి ఉంటుంది. ఆకుల కింది భాగాలు, shoots, పండు calyces, కాండం పగుళ్లలో colonies తెల్ల fluffy masses గా కనిపిస్తాయి. వీటి ఆహారం వల్ల ఆకులు ముడుచుకుపోతాయి, shoots గిడసబారతాయి, honeydew స్రవిస్తాయి. ఆ honeydew మీద sooty mould పెరిగి photosynthesis ఇంకా తగ్గుతుంది, పండు నాణ్యత పడిపోతుంది.
హోస్ట్ పంటలు, జీవిత చక్రం
M. hirsutus అత్యంత polyphagous; 200 కంటే ఎక్కువ మొక్క genera పైన నమోదు అయింది - జామ (Guava Allahabad Safeda, Guava Taiwan Pink), మామిడి, సపోటా, మల్బరీ, hibiscus, పత్తి, ద్రాక్ష. P. citri citrus మీద ముఖ్య mealybug; జామ, ద్రాక్షపై కూడా కనిపిస్తుంది. ఉష్ణమండల ప్రాంతాల్లో రెండు జాతులు ఏడాది పొడవునా reproduce అవుతాయి. Overlapping generations ఎక్కువ; లేత shoots మీద చీమలు పోషించే colonies తరచూ ఉంటాయి.
నష్టం, ఆర్థిక ప్రభావం
జామలో తీవ్రమైన dadi వల్ల ఆకులు, shoots distort అవుతాయి; పండు ముందుగానే రాలిపోతుంది; mould-stained పండు మార్కెట్కు పనికిరాదు. సపోటా, మామిడిలో పెద్ద outbreaks వల్ల లేత చెట్లు ఆకులు రాల్చేస్తాయి. ఒక్క sooty mould వల్ల వచ్చే cosmetic damage కూడా వాణిజ్య తోటల్లో పెద్ద ధర నష్టం కలిగిస్తుంది.
నియంత్రణ
ICAR-supported integrated management:
- సాగు పద్ధతులు: తోట సానిటేషన్; standard pruning cycle (Guava Pruning Cycle) తర్వాత infested shoots తీసివేయడం; mutualism తెంచడానికి చీమల నియంత్రణ.
- Biological: encyrtid parasitoid Leptomastix dactylopii, ఆస్ట్రేలియన్ ladybird beetle Cryptolaemus montrouzieri విడుదల; రెండింటినీ NBAIR-affiliated bio-control labs వాణిజ్యంగా ఉత్పత్తి చేస్తాయి.
- Mechanical/chemical: horticultural oil emulsions high-volume స్ప్రేలు; bioagents చాలనప్పుడు approved insecticides spot applications.
